This dark milk chocolate uses kefir, one of the traditional Lithuanian ingredients, instead of milk. It has a moderate acidity and a mellow taste. Kefir is a fermented milk drink that originated in the Caucasus region (the area surrounded by the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea). In Lithuania, it is not only used as a drink, but is also an essential ingredient in the home-cooked dish shaltibarshchai (a pink cold soup made with beets).
