This exhibition features studies inspired by Jean Arp's work "According to the Laws of Chance (1933)." While Arp's technique involved tearing pieces of paper and arranging them at will, this exhibition explores concepts such as "controlled/uncontrolled" states and "the rules of irregularity defying the rules of chance." The compositions, woven with fragmented forms and colors, hover between intention and chance, exploring visual possibilities. Located between material existence and abstract expression, this is an attempt to stimulate interest in our "seeing." Theoretical exploration and visual pleasure coexist, blending seamlessly into the everyday, creating a space where each viewer's interpretation intersects.
Satoru Shimizu
Artist/designer
He uses unique techniques to transcribe and reconstruct the surfaces of printed materials, photographs, and traces of places, expressing the memories and thoughts that these objects harbor as spatial installations and two-dimensional works. At first glance, his work appears to be a deconstruction of an existing space, but by shifting, layering, and filtering the drift of fragmented human images that accompany movement through space, he creates an accidental, multidimensional space.
Graduated from Musashino Art University, Department of Spatial Design.
Part-time lecturer at the Department of Spatial Design, Musashino Art University.
